The National Theatre Live from London
NT Live is an exciting initiative to broadcast live performances of plays onto cinema screens worldwide. The four show pilot season launched with Phedre, with Helen Mirren, Margaret Tyzack and Dominic Cooper.
On 25 June, the performance of Phedre was filmed in high definition and broadcast via satellite to approximately 70 cinemas and arts centers, reaching a widespread audience live across the UK. Over 200 venues around the world also screened the production.
This was followed by All's Well That Ends Well on Thursday, October 1, 2009, Nation on January 30, 2010 , The Habit of Art on Thursday, April 22, 2010 and London Assurance on June 28, 2010.

Thank you for sharing the first season of NT Live worldwide broadcasts with us. The exciting new season of National Theatre Live will launch in Autumn 2010 and will bring the best of the National's theatre to cinema screens around the world.
The National Theatre Live Second Season
The season will launch on October 14th with Complicite's A Disappearing Number live from Theatre royal Plymouth. Directed by Simon McBurney. Awards include the Olivier Award for Best New Play (2008), The Evening Standard Theatre Award for Best Play (2007) and The Critics' Circle Theatre Award for Best New Play (2007).
On December 9th Hamlet will be broadcast, directed by Nicholas Hytner featuring Rory Kinnear in the title role, David Calder as Polonius, Clare Higgins as Gertrude, Patrick Malahide as Claudius and Ruth Negga as Ophelia. (LCCT will broadcast on Dec 16, 2010)
A provocative and wholly unique hybrid of dance, theatre and music, FELA! explores the extravagant, decadent and rebellious world of Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo-Kuti. Tony winning musical FELA! will be broadcast on January 13, 2011.
Danny Boyle's production of Frankenstein, a play of Nick Dear, based on the novel by Mary Shelley will follow on March 17, 2011. (LCCT will broadcast on Mar. 31, 2011)
Also in the new season will be Chekhov's The Cherry Orchard, directed by NT Associate Director Howard Davies, whose recent productions of Russian plays (including Philistines, Burnt by the Sun and The White Guard) have earned huge critical acclaim. Zoe Wanamaker will play Madame Ranevskaya.
