LCCT Presents the Award-Winning Guys and Dolls Aug. 1-9!

"Guys and Dolls", the award-winning musical by Frank Loesser, is coming to the stage of Lincoln Theater. The show, presented by the Lincoln County Community Theater, opens Friday August 1st for 8 performances. According to director Ellie Hinds, the show is a rarity in traditional Broadway productions. Written in 1950, it needs no revisions to be produced today. This production is a summer musical event at its best with a cast that boasts a dozen loveable gamblers, along with the girls from the Hot Box Club, Miss Adelaide, Nathan Detroit, Nicely Nicely, the lovely Sarah Brown and the charming gambler, Sky Masterson.  An incredible set has been designed for LCCT by Daniel MacLean Wagner, a ten-time winner of the Helen Hayes award for best lighting design in theaters in Washington, D.C.

"Guys & Dolls" show dates are August 1, 2, 5, 6, 7, 8 & 9 at 7:30 PM. There will be one Sunday matinee, August 3 at 2:00 PM. There is no performance Monday, August 4. For ticket information and reservations, call Lincoln Theater, Damariscotta at 563-3424. Tickets may be purchased by phone, at the theater box office, at Maine Coast Book Shop & Cafe and at the ticket booth at the time of the show. Tickets are on sale now and the phones are already ringing!  All seats are reserved - make your plans now for what will be a great sell-out summer musical experience!

Popcorn, Air Conditioning & Surround Sound!!
Written by Director
Tuesday, 20 May 2008

Exciting things are happening at Lincoln Theater!  We are very very pleased to announce that the first big piece of our Phase III Renovation is complete and the air conditioning system is installed and ready to run.  This should make a huge difference to our summer audiences who have loyally suffered with us through movies and live productions.  The next exciting announcement is that the surround sound system is now completed and sounds terrific!  Make sure you get to a movie soon so you can experience the difference.   And finally - we know that many of our patrons have sorely missed the wonderful popcorn that is produced by our original 1932 popcorn machine.  When something breaks on the machine, it is hard to replace - and we have had a tough time locating the special bearings we needed for this last mishap.  Thanks to two very dedicated movie employees, the machine was repaired  - but alas! - the heating element conked out and we were forced to retire the machine.  Two very generous patrons of the theater stepped forward and have donated a brand new commercial popcorn machine that will make popcorn that tastes just as wonderful as the old one did, so we are back in business and so grateful to them for their gift.  The old machine now resides in the lower lobby on display as a great piece of our history.  We thank you for your patience and understanding while we've been under repair and renovation, and hope you will continue to attend movies and events at Lincoln Theater.  There are lots of exciting films and special events planned for the entire summer!
